Passage 6.1
English meaning
Some thinkers name inherent nature as the cause, and others time, but the verse calls them mistaken. It is the greatness of the divine at work in the world that sets this wheel of brahman turning.
Explanation
The verse need not deny the experience of natural processes or time; it rejects their sufficiency as ultimate explanation. The wheel pictures the recurring movement of world and embodied life. Calling that movement divine greatness presents it as an expression of the presiding reality’s power.
Context
The final chapter returns to the opening question: what ultimately accounts for the movement of the world?
