न तस्य कश्चित्पतिरस्ति लोके न चेशिता नैव च तस्य लिङ्गम् । स कारणं करणाधिपाधिपो न चास्य कश्चिज्जनिता न चाधिपः ॥ ९ ॥

हिन्दी अर्थ
जगत् में उसका कोई स्वामी या शासक नहीं, और न उसका कोई सीमित करने वाला पहचान-चिह्न है। वह कारण है, करणों के अधिपतियों का भी अधिपति है; उसका न कोई जनक है और न कोई अधिपति।
English meaning
No master or ruler stands over it in the world, nor is there a defining mark that confines it. It is the cause and the ruler even of those who preside over the faculties; it has neither a progenitor nor an overlord.
व्याख्या
लिङ्ग का अर्थ यहाँ चिह्न अथवा अनुमान का संकेत है; बिना प्रसंग के इसे किसी धार्मिक प्रतिमा का नाम समझना भ्रामक होगा। करणाधिपाधिप शब्द इन्द्रियों अथवा साधनों और उनके संचालकों से भी ऊपर के अधिष्ठान का विचार रखता है।
Explanation
Liṅga here concerns a sign or identifying indicator; importing the name of a particular religious icon without contextual argument would be misleading. The compound karaṇādhipādhipa places the ultimate ground beyond both faculties and those who preside over them.
