ततो यदुत्तरतरं तदरूपमनामयम् । य एतद्विदुरमृतास्ते भवन्त्यथेतरे दुःखमेवापियन्ति ॥ १० ॥

ततः यत् उत्तरतरम् [अस्ति], तत् अरूपम् अनामयम् [अस्ति] । ये एतत् विदुः, ते अमृताः भवन्ति; अथ इतरे दुःखम् एव अपियन्ति ।
हिन्दी अर्थ
जो उससे भी परे है, वह अरूप और क्लेशरहित है। इसे जानने वाले अमृत होते हैं; दूसरे दुःख में ही पड़ते हैं।
English meaning
What is still beyond is formless and free of affliction. Those who know this become immortal; the others enter into suffering.
व्याख्या
उत्तरतरम् को स्थानिक दूरी के बजाय रूपों से परे वास्तविकता के रूप में समझना प्रसंग-संगत है। ज्ञान और अज्ञान के फल अलग बताए गए हैं; यह पीड़ित व्यक्ति को दोषी ठहराने का सामाजिक नियम नहीं है।
Explanation
“Further beyond” fits the transcendence of forms better than a physical distance. The contrast concerns knowledge and ignorance, not a social rule for blaming people who suffer.
