English meaning
Bring me prosperity that brings and increases, quickly providing me with clothing, cattle, and food and drink at all times, prosperity accompanied by fleecy animals and other livestock: svaha. May students come to me: svaha. May they come to me from different directions: svaha. May they come fully and abundantly: svaha. May the students be self-controlled: svaha. May the students be inwardly calm: svaha.
Explanation
Material support is coupled with the character of the learners: discipline and inward calm matter as much as their arrival. Fleecy animals belong to the household economy assumed by the text. Achiram is read as an archaically lengthened form meaning without delay; the offering language is presented historically, not as a promise that recitation produces prosperity.
Context
After the prayer for understanding come the resources and students needed to sustain a teaching household. Each svaha marks the offering-form of the prayer.
