English meaning
Wind is the joining agency: so much concerning the worlds. Now concerning lights: fire is the prior form, the sun the latter form, waters the junction, and lightning the joining agency. So much concerning lights. Now concerning learning: the teacher is the prior form.
Explanation
Sandhi is the junction; sandhana is the agency or process of joining. The association of water and lightning with lights is a Vedic contemplative correspondence, not a modern physical theory. The teacher is not treated as a complete isolated whole: the student, the other member, follows immediately.
Context
The first conjunction is completed with wind, and the fire–sun example follows. The source’s numbered boundary then divides the learning example across two passages.
