पञ्चपादं पितरं द्वादशाकृतिं दिव आहुः परे अर्धे पुरीषिणम् । अथेमे अन्य उ परे विचक्षणं सप्तचक्रे षडर आहुरर्पितमिति ॥ ११ ॥

कुछ उसे पाँच पैरों वाला पिता, बारह आकृतियों वाला और आकाश के ऊपरी भाग में जल से सम्पन्न बताते हैं। दूसरे विद्वान् उस दूरदर्शी को सात चक्रों और छह अरों वाले आधार पर स्थित कहते हैं।
English meaning
Some describe him as the father with five feet and twelve forms, rich in waters in the upper region of heaven. Others describe the discerning one as set upon a seven-wheeled, six-spoked support.
व्याख्या
पाँच पैर को पाँच ऋतुओं की गणना और बारह आकृतियों को महीनों से जोड़ा जाता है; पाँच की गणना में हेमन्त और शिशिर एक रखे जाते हैं। छह अरे दूसरी, छह-ऋतु गणना की ओर संकेत करते हैं। सात का सम्बन्ध सूर्य के रथ या घोड़ों की वैदिक छवि से है। ये समय के वैकल्पिक काव्यात्मक विन्यास हैं।
Explanation
The five feet are traditionally connected with five seasons, combining the two winter seasons, and the twelve forms with the months. Six spokes suggest the alternative reckoning of six seasons. Seven evokes Vedic imagery of the sun’s chariot or horses. The verse offers symbolic arrangements of time rather than one literal vehicle diagram.
