यथाऽऽदर्शे तथाऽऽत्मनि यथा स्वप्ने तथा पितृलोके । यथाऽप्सु परीव ददृशे तथा गन्धर्वलोके छायातपयोरिव ब्रह्मलोके ॥ ५ ॥

जैसे दर्पण में, वैसे अपने अन्तःकरण में वह स्पष्ट दिखाई देता है; जैसे स्वप्न में, वैसे पितृलोक में; जैसे जल में अस्पष्ट प्रतिबिम्ब, वैसे गन्धर्वलोक में; और ब्रह्मलोक में छाया तथा प्रकाश की तरह स्पष्ट भेद से।
English meaning
It is seen in oneself as in a mirror; in the ancestors’ world as in a dream; in the Gandharvas’ world as an indistinct reflection in water; and in Brahma’s world as distinctly as shadow and light.
व्याख्या
लोकों का यह मानचित्र पाठ की धार्मिक विश्वकल्पना का अंग है। दर्पण की उपमा वर्तमान अन्तःकरण में स्पष्ट आत्मदर्शन की सम्भावना पर बल देती है, न कि मृत्यु के बाद ही जानने की प्रतीक्षा पर।
