समे शुचौ शर्करावह्निवालुकाविवर्जिते शब्दजलाश्रयादिभिः । मनोनुकूले न तु चक्षुपीडने गुहानिवाताश्रयणे प्रयोजयेत् ॥ १० ॥

English meaning
One should practice in a level, clean place, free of pebbles, fire and sand, away from disturbances of noise and water sites, pleasant to the mind and not distressing to the eyes, in a sheltered, draft-free retreat such as a cave.

स्थान का चयन केवल पवित्रता से नहीं, स्थिरता, दृश्य-सुख और बाधा से बचाव से भी जुड़ा है। शब्दजलाश्रयादिभिः की जोड़-रचना कठिन है; कुछ पाठ इसे ध्वनि और जल की सुखद विशेषताओं से भी जोड़ते हैं।
Explanation
The choice of place concerns steadiness, visual ease and freedom from disturbance as well as purity. The construction śabdajalāśrayādibhiḥ is difficult; some readings instead connect it with pleasant qualities of sound and water.
