एष सर्वेषु भूतेषु गूढोऽत्मा न प्रकाशते । दृश्यते त्वग्र्यया बुद्ध्या सूक्ष्मया सूक्ष्मदर्शिभिः ॥ १२ ॥

सभी प्राणियों में छिपी यह आत्मा सहज प्रकट नहीं होती। किन्तु सूक्ष्म को देखने वाले लोग उसे तीक्ष्ण, सूक्ष्म बुद्धि से देखते हैं।
English meaning
This Self, hidden in all beings, does not readily reveal itself. Yet those who discern the subtle see it through a finely focused and subtle understanding.
व्याख्या
गूढः का अर्थ शरीर के भीतर कोई छिपी भौतिक वस्तु होना आवश्यक नहीं; यह पहचान में आवरण का संकेत है। दृश्यते भी यहाँ साधारण आँख से देखने तक सीमित नहीं है। अग्र्य बुद्धि की एकाग्र और परिष्कृत स्थिति को दर्शाता है।
Explanation
Hidden need not mean a physical object concealed inside the body; it can indicate an obstruction to recognition. Seeing likewise is not confined to ordinary eyesight. The focused and refined condition of understanding is central to the description.
