इन्द्रस्त्वं प्राण तेजसा रुद्रोऽसि परिरक्षिता । त्वमन्तरिक्षे चरसि सूर्यस्त्वं ज्योतिषां पतिः ॥ ९ ॥

हिन्दी अर्थ
हे प्राण, अपने तेज में तुम इन्द्र हो; तुम रुद्र हो और सब ओर से रक्षा करने वाले हो। तुम अन्तरिक्ष में विचरते हो; तुम सूर्य और ज्योतियों के स्वामी हो।
English meaning
O prana, in your power you are Indra; you are Rudra and the all-around protector. You move through the midspace; you are the sun, lord of the lights.
व्याख्या
इन्द्र और रुद्र के नाम अलग देवताओं की कथाएँ सुनाने के लिए नहीं, प्राण की भिन्न सामर्थ्य दिखाने के लिए आते हैं। भाष्य रुद्र में संहार और परिरक्षिता में पालन का भेद स्पष्ट करता है। सूर्य का पुनः उल्लेख आन्तरिक जीवनाधार को बाहरी ज्योति से जोड़ता है।
Explanation
Indra and Rudra appear not to introduce separate myths but to express different capacities of prana. The commentary distinguishes dissolution in the Rudra association from preservation in “protector.” The return to the sun reconnects the inward support of life with outward light.
