वायुरनिलममृतमथेदं भस्मांतँ शरीरम् । ॐ क्रतो स्मर कृतँ स्मर क्रतो स्मर कृतँ स्मर ॥ १७ ॥

यह प्राण अमर वायु में मिल जाए और यह शरीर राख हो जाए। ॐ, हे संकल्पशक्ति, स्मरण करो; किए हुए कर्मों को स्मरण करो। स्मरण करो; किए हुए कर्मों को स्मरण करो।
English meaning
Let this breath return to the deathless air, and let this body end in ashes. Om, O power of resolve, remember; remember what has been done. Remember; remember what has been done.

शरीर के नश्वर होने और किए हुए कर्मों के स्मरण को साथ रखा गया है। क्रतु का अर्थ संकल्प, मन या यज्ञ-संकल्प माना जा सकता है; यह पाठ मृत्यु का ध्यान है, शरीर को हानि पहुँचाने की सलाह नहीं।
