स ईक्षतेमे नु लोकाश्च लोकपालाश्चान्नमेभ्यः सृजा इति ॥ १ ॥

उसने विचार किया: ये लोक और उनके रक्षक उपस्थित हैं; अब इनके लिए अन्न की सृष्टि करूँ।
English meaning
It considered: the worlds and their guardians are now here; let me bring forth food for them.
व्याख्या
लोक, लोकपाल और अन्न को क्रमशः सामने रखकर पाठ जीवन को केवल अंगों की बनावट तक सीमित नहीं करता। शरीर की व्यवस्था के बाद उसके निर्वाह का प्रश्न आवश्यक है। अन्न आगे केवल देखे या नाम लिए जाने की वस्तु नहीं, ग्रहण किए जाने वाली वस्तु सिद्ध होगा।
Explanation
By arranging worlds, guardians and food in sequence, the passage does not reduce life to a set of formed organs. Once the body is organized, sustenance still needs to be addressed. The following trials distinguish food as something actually taken in from food merely seen or named.
