तस्मिँस्त्वयि किं वीर्यमित्यपीदँ सर्वमाददीय यदिदं पृथिव्यामिति ॥ ९ ॥

हिन्दी अर्थ
यक्ष ने पूछा, ऐसे तुममें क्या सामर्थ्य है? वायु ने कहा, पृथ्वी पर जो कुछ है, वह सब मैं उठा ले जा सकता हूँ।
English meaning
The presence asked, “What power is there in you?” Vayu replied, “I could carry off all this, whatever is on the earth.”
व्याख्या
आददीय लेना या उठा ले जाना व्यक्त करता है; वायु के प्रसंग में उड़ाकर ले जाना स्वाभाविक अर्थ है। अग्नि की तरह वायु भी सर्वम् कहते हैं। दो अलग शक्तियों का समान सर्वव्यापक दावा अगले समान परीक्षण को अर्थ देता है।
Explanation
Ādadīya expresses taking or carrying away; in the context of wind it naturally suggests sweeping something off. Like Agni, Vayu uses the unrestricted “all.” The parallel claim prepares a parallel test, despite the difference between their powers.
