तेऽग्निमब्रुवन् जातवेद एतद्विजानीहि किमिदं यक्षमिति तथेति ॥ ३ ॥

हिन्दी अर्थ
देवताओं ने अग्नि से कहा, हे जातवेदस्, पता लगाओ कि यह यक्ष क्या है। अग्नि ने कहा, ऐसा ही करूँगा।
English meaning
The gods said to Agni, “Jatavedas, find out what this mysterious presence is.” He agreed: “So I shall.”
व्याख्या
जातवेदस् अग्नि का प्रसिद्ध नाम है और यहाँ सम्बोधन के रूप में आया है। नाम और देवत्व के कारण अग्नि जाँच के योग्य माने जाते हैं, पर कथा अभी यह नहीं मानती कि उनका प्रसिद्ध होना अपने आप ब्रह्मज्ञान सिद्ध करता है।
Explanation
Jatavedas is an established name of Agni, used here in direct address. Agni’s recognized status makes him the first emissary, but the narrative has not equated possessing a celebrated divine identity with understanding Brahman.
