अथ वायुमब्रुवन्वायवेतद्विजानीहि किमेतद्यक्षमिति तथेति ॥ ७ ॥

अथ [देवाः] वायुम् अब्रुवन्—वायो, किम् एतत् यक्षम् इति एतत् विजानीहि । तथा इति [वायुः प्रत्युवाच] ।
हिन्दी अर्थ
फिर देवताओं ने वायु से कहा, हे वायु, पता लगाओ कि यह यक्ष क्या है। वायु ने कहा, ऐसा ही करूँगा।
English meaning
Then they said to Vayu, “Vayu, find out what this mysterious presence is.” He agreed: “So I shall.”
व्याख्या
अग्नि की असफलता के बाद कथा दूसरी शक्ति को आजमाती है। इससे शिक्षा किसी एक देवता की व्यक्तिगत दुर्बलता तक सीमित नहीं रहती। पहचान का प्रश्न वही है, यद्यपि अगला देवता अपनी अलग शक्ति का दावा करेगा।
Explanation
The second attempt tests a different divine capacity, so the lesson cannot be confined to a personal weakness of Agni. The question of identity remains unchanged even though the next emissary will claim a different kind of power.
