Passage 3.9
English meaning
From this come all oceans and mountains, and from this flow rivers of every kind. From this also come all plants and their sap, through which this inward self continues embodied in association with the elements.
Explanation
The movement from large geographical forms to plant sap connects the support of the world with the nourishment of the individual. The inward self’s continuance with the elements must here be read in relation to embodiment, rather than as a claim that the imperishable Self is manufactured from food.
Context
After the concentrated image of the seven faculties, oceans, mountains, rivers, and plants return to view, and the list reaches the nourishment of embodied life.
