Passage 3.2
English meaning
The Person is luminous and formless, present both outside and within, and unborn. Without vital breath or mind, pure, he is beyond even the imperishable that is itself called higher.
Explanation
The denial of breath and mind refuses to confine the Person to the functions of an organism, while the next mantra makes those very functions arise from him. The phrase placing him beyond the imperishable needs particular care, because Vedanta traditions do not all explain the relation between akshara and the supreme Person in the same way.
Context
Immediately after the visible image of sparks, this mantra prevents its source from being understood as another shaped, born creature.
