Passage 1.9
English meaning
From the one who knows all and knows each thing, whose tapas consists of knowledge, arise this Brahman as the manifested creative principle, and name, form and food.
Explanation
The pair all-knowing and knowing each thing can emphasize comprehensiveness and particularity together. Many commentaries understand this Brahman here as a manifested creative principle such as Hiranyagarbha, rather than saying that the Imperishable itself begins to exist.

Context
The first section closes by connecting the knowing source with the world of names and forms.
