Passage 1.7
English meaning
As a spider sends out and draws in its web, as plants arise on the earth, and as hair grows on the head and body of a living person, so this entire world arises here from the Imperishable.
Explanation
The spider image includes both emergence and withdrawal, while plants and hair illustrate diverse products arising from a source. These are complementary pointers, not a description of Brahman’s biology or a model of modern physical cosmology.
Context
Three familiar comparisons connect the unseen source with the visible world.
