Passage 1.7
English meaning
Know as Brahman what is not seen by the eye, but through which the eyes see, not merely this visible object of worship.
Explanation
Pointing out a visible thing is different from understanding the ground of vision itself. The passage does not deny the practical usefulness of the eye. It denies that adding Brahman to the inventory of visible forms would answer the inquiry.
Context
The sequence now distinguishes visible forms from what enables seeing.
