Passage 5.4
English meaning
By this knowing Self, he passed beyond this world and, obtaining all that was desired in that heavenly world, became deathless, became deathless.
Explanation
The declaration prajnanam brahma is now connected with the Self and the fruit of knowledge. Passing beyond the world is religious language of release and deathlessness, not an ordinary travel description or a method of injuring the body. The closing repetition belongs to the conclusion and is preserved.
Context
This concludes the Upanishad. The result stated at the end of the second chapter returns, now with an explicit reference to the knowing Self.
